In our small group on Sunday before church we had a fantastic discussion centered around Week 31’s lesson (you can find that lesson HERE.) Specifically, on the John 14:6-7 passage included in that lesson. I don’t want to recap the discussion here because I won’t do it justice but it centered around verse six and how many people read just the first half and move on without taking into account what Jesus said in the second part of that verse.
6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
7“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”
John 14:6–7 (NASB95)
The point of this note today is that those in class wanted to have an extended conversation on this passage. I promised them I would field their questions this week and combine them into a piece of writing concerning just this passage. As I was driving home it occurred to me there are many people on this list that do not sit in the Sunday small group with me at East Cobb United Methodist Church in Cobb County, Georgia. For you all, this is your opportunity to send me questions on this passage and be a part of the discussion.
To present questions either email me your question or post a comment on Substack to this entry. I will keep the questions open for a week. On Monday of next week I will compile everything I’ve been given and figure out what I’m going to write and how long it will take. I will post a follow up to everyone letting you know what kind of response we got and when you can expect to see something written from me on the subject.
If we have a large enough response/interest I may even open up a live stream for discussion on You Tube or Rumble or maybe just for the Patreons and paid subscribers on Substack. We’ll see.
As always, I am very grateful to everyone who reads and responds to the things I write. You fuel my fingers to type more. Thank you. God bless and Godspeed.
Mark, I've been pondering on this all week. I may have over thought it, but I just sent you an email with some thoughts and questions. Looking forward to reading your expanded thoughts on this subject! See you Sunday.
