Assault by Information: My NaNoWriMo Effort this Year
That's a crazy word what the heck is NaNoWriMo anyway?
"I'm telling you Jack, my house is trying to kill me." Kyle Mars is wrong but only slightly. His house isn't trying to kill him an Artificial Intelligence is and it's using every electronic device connected to the World Wide Web to do it including Kyle's house. What do Chinese intelligence, US Special Forces, and wildly popular Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game have in common? They're all after Kyle Mars and none of them know why.
Assault by Information a new novel by Mark Malcolm
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month.
Back in 1999 Christ Baty organized a group of 21 people out in San Francisco to spend the month to write at least 50,000 words on a new novel. Since that time it has grown to a phenomenon where millions of hopeful authors commit to write as much as they can in the month of November. You can find out more about this non-profit HERE.
I have normally had quite a bit to do in November and not participated. I am also a plotter which means I outline a book or piece of writing before I begin writing. The opposite of that is called a Pantser because they just start writing “by the seat of their pants” and go wherever the Muse takes them. Well, not this year.
This year the Muse struck with what I consider to be a topical idea. So, I decided to see if I could get an outline done before November. My thought was that if I had an outline finished, I could write with the rest of the crowd this year. Well, I have a completed outline so I’m participating.
Assault by Information
That’s the working title, Assault by Information. I have an outline. I have a drafted blurb (that will be vastly different once the story is written.) I have a plan, and a commitment. I’ll post updates and maybe some snippets as I go but the goal for this novel is traditional publishing so I can’t just post it all or it wouldn’t be saleable. Stay tuned and we’ll see how this goes.
