9That which has been is that which will be,And that which has been done is that which will be done.So there is nothing new under the sun.
10Is there anything of which one might say,“See this, it is new”?Already it has existed for agesWhich were before us.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 (NASB95)
Erick Erickson has a piece out today about the Presbyterian Church of America, Greg Johnson, and the Revoice conference they held a number of years ago. The point is that when people fought us for rejecting sin and just wanted to deal compassionately with the people in sin, now those people want to redefine sin as normal. It isn't. Scripture doesn't change. People change. God's opinion of right and wrong doesn't adjust with the creation's understanding, we change to grow closer to His understanding.

If you'd like to read Erickson's piece, you can find that link HERE. I encourage you to do so. I also encourage you to become a subscriber of his like I am. He is a Christian brother on the radio daily explaining how his faith informs his life. He is not just a political talking head. He certainly is that. He lives what he believes. He walks the walk that he talks Monday through Friday from noon to three PM. Yes, I've drunk the kool-aid. I've been listening to Erick since he took over for the guy caught in the crackhouse and Herman Cain announced he would run for president. He will be at the Governor's Gun Club in Kennesaw on October 28 for dinner and a range day, and so will I.
Why do I bring up Erickson's piece? Because there is nothing new under the sun. Because scripture already dealt with this. Because God is good all the time and He never changes. The voices you hear telling you we should change our understanding of scripture to meet the people where they are, are not a light shining to help people out of darkness. You do not enable an addict. You do not give a drunk a drink. It is not loving to tell people what they are doing is alright when God has said it is not.
I am not elevating one sin over another. I am calling out the hypocrisy of people who call themselves Christians and ignore the manual Christians were given to live their lives by. It is not a box of chocolates to pass over the ones that don't taste good only to eat the ones we like. Scripture contains vegetables that are good for us even though we don't like to eat them. Just like when momma made us eat our veggies, so too must we adhere to the portions of God's Word we don't like. He is still God, and we still are not.
