I had the idea that I would post something on 2 Corinthians 5:17 about becoming a New Creature ahead of the New Year. I got up with enough time, but one thing led to another and it didn’t happen. Instead, I felt compelled to post this.
I did not agree with Jimmy Carter’s politics in any fashion. I wasn’t old enough to vote when he came into office. My first presidential election was in 1984 with Reagan’s second run. I voted for Reagan in his historic landslide victory. If you were alive and cognizant at the time, how could you not?
Jimmy Carter was a far, far better man out of Washington DC than he ever was in it. To that point, he was also the best man to ever hold the office from a character point of view. Jimmy Carter’s character was so diametrically opposed to those in our Nation’s capital as to stand out like a search light at midnight in a moonless field. I have no doubt he enjoyed two long-awaited embraces yesterday. The first from Rosalyn, but the one he most coveted was from Jesus. I have no doubt he heard those words, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Be at peace, sir. You’re done tilting at windmills and fending off your critics.
